2000 April 14-16: An excellent
annual meeting this year extended to include BAA Jupiter and Saturn Section
Meetings on Saturday afternoon hosted by Directors John Rogers and David
Graham respectively. Other speakers over the residential weekend
included Neil Bone on Life after the Leonids, Robert Dalby on Routes
to Imaging Perfection, George Sallit on Advanced CCD Imaging Techniques,
David Graham on The Life and Times of Large Refractors and John
Wall on his Mammoth 30-inch Amateur Refractor.
The main-event of the Weekend was the Saturday evening Alfred Curtis
Memorial Lecture. Introduced by BAA President - Nick Hewitt,
Richard Berry, renowned author and CCD enthusiast from the States, spoke
on Amateur Astronomy at the New Millennium. His thought
provoking delivery, given without visual aids, was received with prolonged
applause. Event Organiser - Richard Flux introduced most of the speakers
and he and his helpers including BAA Assistant Secretary Pat Barber, were
thanked for their tireless efforts to make the Weekend so successful.
