2000 Feb 12 - this meeting was held at the Assembly Rooms - Chichester - West Sussex - UK with an attendance of ~45.  The first under the directorship of  Geoff Elston, it was also my first attendance of a Solar Section meeting.  I had especially come to hear David Lunt of Coronado talk on "Manufacture & use of Ha filters".

Unfortunately David was unable to attend but their instruments were on display and for viewing courtesy of Venturescopes from the traffic-free High Street on a low sun.  My brief views coincided with patches of slight haze and I saw no Ha features although annoyingly everybody else did !

The meeting was pretty high powered with talks by Prof Ken Phillips on solar flares and coronal heating, Dr Hugo Alleyne on the Cluster Mission and Prof Douglas Gough on the Gong Mission.   Chichester is a pleasant town [if far south for many amateurs] and I hope more Section meetings are held at this venue.
