Lodestar
finder on 30cm MEADE CLASSIC LX200:
Tried the Starlight Xpress Lodestar CCD as an electronic finder
using either a wideangle 'C' mount 8mm fl lens to record >120 deg of sky
[shown marked-up] in brief exposures and a 58mm f/2 Zenith and 85mm f/2 Jupiter lenses for a narrower angle - these reveal the form of galaxies like M51 and diffuse nebula like NGC 7000 [Cyg] and IC 1396 [Cep]! Newly acquired ASUS EEE netotebook is a cutie.
MEADE ADD E-FINDER SYSTEM to their newly announced Meade LS telescope for initial alignment of telescope and as an imager in its own right. Judging by recently released photo the lens is located at the rear of the telescope [like mine] but thus probably a 50mm fl @ f/4 lens incorporated to give wideangle views of the sky [~6 x4 deg] but not sufficiently wide as to be obstructed by the telescope tube itself. The lens may be interchangeable - its focal length must be calibrated within software for initial alignment purposes.
