wpo - total eclipse of the moon

2004 May 4:  a dark total eclipse of the Moon rising in southeast in evening which the Minolta D7 digicam captures well, with double star aLibrae in field.
Surprisingly this image made BAA POW and my local Croydon, Sutton & Epsom Advertisers front cover - UK coverage seemed minimal due to cloud.

2001 January 9:  the total eclipse of the Moon viewed from south east England through a veil of thin cloud - no stars except Jupiter visible.   At totality the Moon barely visible to the naked eye but the CCD camera was able to penetrate cloud veil.  Image quality is fair via 135mm fl lens coupled to Starlight Xpress MX5c CCD camera riding piggyback on Meade LX200 telescope.
The colour sequence topped the front page of the Surrey Comet serving north Surrey and sister newspaper Sutton Comet  for southwest London on January 12th - the street billboard .
